How to Install Folders on Your Computer
Windows
- Download the installer — Click the Download for Windows button. This will save a
.exefile to your Downloads folder. - Run the installer — Double-click the downloaded
.exefile. If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to allow the installation. - Follow the setup wizard — Accept the license agreement, choose an installation directory (or keep the default), and click Next through each step.
- Complete the installation — Click Install, wait for the progress bar to finish, then click Finish.
- Launch Folders — Find the Folders icon on your desktop or search for it in the Start menu and click to open it.
macOS
- Download the disk image — Visit the Folders website and download the
.dmgfile for macOS. - Open the disk image — Double-click the
.dmgfile in your Downloads folder. A window will appear showing the Folders app icon. - Drag to Applications — Drag the Folders icon into the Applications folder shortcut in the same window.
- Eject the disk image — Right-click the mounted disk image on your desktop and select Eject.
- Launch Folders — Open your Applications folder (or use Spotlight with ⌘ + Space), find Folders, and double-click it. If prompted with a security warning, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

In the Right top menu, click settings. In the LEFT PANEL choose Accounts. Then + Add Email Account. Gmail settings are pre loaded on creation. Choose an Account Name and Display Name. your Username is your gmail address. Enter in the app password you create in Gmail for both IMAP and SMTP. Add a signature the will appear on all your emails. Then test. If successful, save the account.
